Carla Dal Forno + Ela Orleans + Nein Rodere
Entry Requirements: over 18s only
"We're really, really excited to present an evening of subterranean movement, emotive drift and dadaist effluvium.
CARLA DAL FORNO Australian-born, now resident in her label Blackest Ever Black's hometown of London, Carla Dal Forno walks a misty path of over-grown willows, creating a liminal pop music that flows across different genre strands and thrillingly never really settling in any. On her debut album You Know What It's Like, Dal Forno combined a romantically doomed atmosphere, drone and noise elements but most importantly a songwriting skill that effortlessly breaks the heart in slow motion. Her forthcoming release, The Garden, takes Fast Moving Cars' moving pop strutctures into long-form, cinematic territory. Live, Dal Forno is augmented with a sampler and electronics, leaving her to delve deep into her songs.
ELA ORLEANS Ela Orleans has carved a singular path, not only in the underground pop music landscape she has inhabited for over a decade, but, specifically on her most recent release Cirlces Of Lower and Upper Hell, she has created a vision forged from a near-mystical occupation with heartbreak and modern composition. Orleans' dichotomy lies between her epic song-structures informed by sound design and a mastery that twists pop songs into revealing, subverted forms. It's also fair to say that Orleans' voice is just one of those things that breaks down the kind of walls you build around yourself.
NEIN RODERE Debut performance of mysterious poet laureat of the EU, David Roeder. Roeder promises nothing and gives everything.
