MEZ: PART 2

Join us for an eclectic night of South Asian Bhangra and Bollywood, alongside Latin American Baile Funk and Reggaeton.

A charity event for the incredible People In Harmony, MEZ is the combination of two projects that have found a common ground wanting to celebrate the mixed community in Glasgow through the universal language of music. @wearemishrit. Katya and Tarika, are two uni students who set out to create a safe space for mixed South Asian residents, to chat, learn and share their culture with others. Los Otros was created by photographer, Peter Clark. It aims to explore and provide visibility and acknowledgement to the Latin American community in Glasgow.

Carmen- Carmen has influenced the Glasgow music scene through her bright funky Latin beats and Bossa nova tracks. Playing at the likes of Sub Club, Nice N Sleazy and Berkeley Suite, Carmen will be sure to get you up and on the dance floor until late!

Prithvi- A Scottish resident and frequent DJ at the Bongo Club in Edinburgh, Prithvi’s Desi roots shine through in his tracks, with Punjabi aspects mixed into strong techno tracks.

Hu-Sane- An open format DJ, Glasgow-based Hu-Sane takes you on a journey from Disco, House, Acid, Garage, and Jungle to Punjabi classics, Bhangra, Afrobeats and an excellent old pop edit. Being hard to define has ensured that every set is unique and maybe even a chaotic experience.

Pasosprohibidos- a Guatemalan-Mexican selector on a mission to expand Latin American sounds into Glasgow’s music scene. With a foundation in world music, he serves up a generous helping of cumbia, merengue, and quebradita.Whether or not you know the lyrics is beside the point-his selections are all about the rhythms that make you bop.
