Southside Solidarity presents Joe & Wheelman
Santa comes 5 days early this year with a phat bag of UK legends
Joe (facebook.com/joemakemusic/) is the elusive producer behind some of the most interesting and influential music to spring from this rainy island in the last decade. Seminal releases on Hessle Audio and Hemlock Recordings continue to pop up every couple of years and rock the dance music boat, and he is just off the back of an excellent record on Cómeme this summer. His DJ sets give a peek into years spent soaking up London's soundsystem culture and picking through the city's offerings of groove, soul, funk, techno, disco, garage and jazz. We're thrilled to have him up for what we reckon is somehow his first time in Glasgow. On top of his production and selection prowess he is one of the highest profile artists on the scene speaking out on the environmental issues of dance music, flying to gigs just twice in a now 10 year career (residentadvisor.net/features/3476)
We also welcome good friend and bad bitch Wheelman, one of Glasgow's hottest talents and a veteran of it's basements. His releases on Studio Barnhus, Huntleys + Palmers and Don't Be Afraid betray a serious touch for detail and mood and speak of a decade and a half immersed in The Techno. His DJ gigs are of just as high quality - in demand not only up here and down south but with a recent slot at Barnhus's massive Stockholm RBMA festival - and showcase a dedication to the craft matched by very few. And of course, he was at the helm of the STEREOTONE parties responsible for 90% of Glasgow's missing serotonin and getting Ben UFO to play on a schoolnight.

As always, proceeds go to The Against Malaria Foundation, one of the most effective charities working to improve human health and wellbeing and reduce suffering worldwide (givewell.org/charities/amf). We donate 50% of profits straight away and put 50% in the pot for future parties to make fundraising sustainable.
We have begun logging our donations from the night here, and you can donate through this page as well ;) (againstmalaria.com/Fundraiser.aspx?FundraiserID=8276). We are working on getting all earlier donations onto this page.
We aim for an inclusive and environmentally friendly booking policy. Stereo operates a safer space policy and if you have any concerns on the night please approach one of us on the door or a member of staff. The venue has gender neutral toilets but the club space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible
