THE OLD HAIRDRESSERS.
The Old Hairdressers is a new small independent arts centre situated immediately across Renfield Lane from Stereo. It has been designed to complement Stereo and to add to the vibrancy of the lane itself.
We have pretty much left the original fabric of the premises unchanged. We have simply attempted to occupy it without spoiling it.
We have created a cafe/bar on the ground floor, which leads onto a mezzanine area.
The bar features a small but mighty range of draught beers (pints from £2.50) and cider, and can be used for exhibitions/installations/interventions etc. The mezzanine itself can be booked for private parties and special events.
The main exhibition/performance space is on the first floor. This is a flexible performance,exhibition,meeting, and private party room. We do not have much in the way of production equipment as yet, however we hope to acquire bits and pieces over the next few months and develop the possibilities of the space accordingly. If you are excited by the room, and have an idea for an event, then just speak to us. We are completely independent and want the space to be very accessible. We aim to make booking and using the space straightforward, so as to encourage interesting things to happen.
