The last four of Roberts’ albums have been on the large American indie Drag City and he has shared stages with Joanna Newsom, Magnolia Electric Co, Smog, Charalambides and countless others. However, it is perhaps fair to say that, thus far, the main body of his audience lies across the Atlantic and that he is yet to get the recognition he deserves in the UK. “Roberts is a songwriter who clearly has a very firm working knowledge of more traditional strands of the genre he occupies (his lyrics and guitar playing are, as ever, of considerable merit) but there's a free-roaming, ramshackle rawness to the recordings and presentation here that imbues a sense of intimacy and unconditionedness to proceedings. Recommended” www.boomkat.com This will be the first ever UK tour by Kiila, a collective based in Turku, Finland whose eclectic tastes are betrayed by their ever more adventurous recordings and live sets; its not unusual for Kiila’s sound to include folk rock, free jazz, psychedelia, turntablism and electronica within a matter of minutes. Theirs is no Jack-of-all-trades approach though, the band’s line-up comprising a sextet of virtuoso multi-instrumentalists with various tentacles in a range of adventurous Finnish acts. Kiila released their 3rd album Tuota Tuota on Fonal in June 2009 and, in the words of Dusted Magazine: “Kiila’s greatest coup is shoehorning genuine song craft into this mix without upsetting the balance. (For example) album opener, Viisi Hirvasta. For its first half it’s a hypnotizing instrumental built from plangent strings, stray percussion, and a recurring melody on the bass, until a half-chanted/half-sung passage emerges near its conclusion, making you wonder if it started life as a song, a poem or a jam. Tuota tuota is full of moments like these, where you have to question how it is your listening, as all your usual hierarchies are upended and genres turned on their heads. Meat Free Mondays

How Green Is Your Diet? With the United Nations recent recommendation that if we all want to help decelerate climate change we should give up meat consumption for one day a week (initially, decreasing onwards) stereo has decided to get involved in the UN`s campaign for meat-free Mondays. A 2006 UN report found that the meat industry produces more greenhouse gas emissions than all those from the suv`s, cars, trucks, planes and ships combined around the globe. A surprising statistic but one that allows us to have a massive impact on climate change by reducing our consumption of animal produce one day a week. All the food produced in stereo is already free from any animal produce so we have decided to offer our customers a wee bit extra every Monday.This month you can get any five tapas dishes for 10 pounds. This offer is available on Mondays between 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. - £10.00
